The Malaysian economy performed exceptionally good last year backed by strong domestic demand, particularly due to private sector spending, exports, and broad-based expansion across all major sectors. In 2018, with an accommodating domestic development amid buoyant external demand, Malaysian economy is expected to grow at 5.4% this year.

Mr. Anthony Dass is the Head of AmBank Research at AmBank Group and works closely with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and its agencies such as MATRADE, MIDA and MPC. With more than 25 years experience as an economist, He started his career working for the Central Bank of Malaysia as Senior Economist, and thereafter as Head of Research for several stock broking companies.
Currently, as part of his work, he supports external stakeholders comprising of institutional clients, business clients, Ministries and its agencies.He has done a special project for the United Nations, under the United Nations Development Program for the country, United Arab Emirates, carrying out a feasible study to establish the ‘Data Dissemination System’ for the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
With a Master of Science in Economics & Finance from University of Bristol, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor’s degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia in the area of Economics, he is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics.
