Degremont, since 1939, has developed a very successful water treatment business throughout the world, and indeed in Malaysia. Degremont has built more than three thousand drinking water treatment plants and is considered to be the world leader. Degremont is a wholly owned subsidiary of Suez Environment which belongs to the Suez Group with a market capitalisation of around EUR58 billion (MYR290 billion). In Malaysia, Degremont built its first plant in Melaka in 1964, and it remains fully operational to this day. Since then thirty six projects have been successfully completed, the largest being Sungai Selangor Phase II, Stages 1 & 2, with a design capacity of 1,070,000 m3/day. Degremont has also been involved with most of the larger water treatment plants in the capital cities of Asia, including Bombay with a design capacity of 1,910,000 m3/day, and regionally in Sydney with a plant capacity of 3,000,000 m3/day. Innovation is at the heart of Degremont’s strategy. This enables us be at the cutting edge of the water treatment industry and to develop new processes and techniques which are more effective and efficient. More importantly, this allows us to optimise the cost balance between construction and operation, for the benefit of both owner and operator. |
