The oil & gas committee was created in 2009, in collaboration with EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The committee is providing a platform for its members to discuss and lobby industry issues as well as focus on the following topics: manpower sourcing and training, cooperation, promotion of Malaysia as an Oil & Gas Deepwater Hub.

On Tuesday 25th May and Wednesday 26th May 2010, in conjunction to the MFCCI visit to Sabah and Brunei, the Oil & Gas Committee was glad to invite MFCCI members to join the delegation for its 2 day - one night visit to Brunei Darussalam.
With oil & gas beeing the main economic output of this tiny but rich emirate located between the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, the objectives and priorities of this delegation were to boost business synergy in both public and private sectors, whilst exploring investment opportunities in the Sultanate. The delegation had a meeting at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources. They were welcomed upon their arrival by Hajah Hasnah binti Ibrahim, the ministry’s Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary, which was followed by a brief presentation on the ministry itself, as well as the Brunei Halal Brand, aquaculture industry, Brunei tourism, and investment incentives in the country. Then, the delegation moved to the Brunei Economic Development Board, to have a meeting with the CEO of the BEDB, Mr Vincent Cheong, to talk about the Bruneian economy and potential. At the end of the day, the delegation was invited by the Ambassador of France Mr Louis Le Vert for a cocktail at his residence. On Wednesday 26th May, the French delegation held meetings with representatives from the Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas, Pengiran Ali, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Ms. Hajah Leny Haji Saji to discuss about the possibility of business opportunities. In Miri, the delegation visited the MFCCI new member Mr Droy from Challenger Special Oil Services.
