Even though the last two years were marked by the global financial crisis, Malaysia more than ever offers large potential resources and the French firms are aware of this. Regardless, lots of progress needs to be done, our two countries have to bond closer relationships, and we are undoubtedly one of the vectors of this rapprochement.
French presence in Malaysia goes back to the pioneer’s times, reaching today some 250 companies, which includes manufacturing facilities, services centers and regional offices. These companies are estimated to represent about ten billion USD of assets and thirty thousand employees in Malaysia. They are working in various sectors of activities, such as electronics, tourism, education, consumer goods, oil & gas, manufacturing and logistics.
The outlook for 2010 is promising and the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to France and the visit of the French Minister of Finance Mrs Christine Lagarde to Malaysia will strengthen the links between our two countries.
