The Malaysian French Chamber of Commerce and Industry was part of the French Delegation headed by H.E Martine Dorance, French Ambassador to Malaysia which visited Kuching from 20th to 22nd July 2014.
The visit included a briefing session with the Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and the Dayak Chamber of Commerce, a courtesy call to the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem and also a visit to the Sarawak Energy Board.
It was an opportunity to verify that the largest state of the federation (about the same size of the Peninsula but with a population of only about 2 millions) has got a lot of potential for French companies especially in sectors such as Tourism, Energy, Oil & Gas, Agriculture, Pharmacy and Food Processing.
MFCCI also got to understand that major Energy Generation activities are to be developed over the next few years which would multiply by 3 the current energy generation capacity of Sarawak. ACCOR Group, will open soon a new PULLMAN in Miri - to be added to the already established PULLMAN Kuching, of which the delegation got to appreciate the quality of service and hospitality.
The visit was also the occasion to officially introduce the new French Honorary Consul in Sarawak, Mrs Audrey Wan Ullok, and at the same time, H.E Martine Dorance also took the opportunity to confer to Mrs Brigitte Wan Ullok, the former Honorary Consul, the title of "Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur", in the presence of some 50 representatives of the Malaysian-French community in Sarawak.
MFCCI is planning to organize an information program on Borneo in the next few months and to prepare a potential visit of delegation of MFCCI members to Sabah and Sarawak, two states with strong potential which certainly deserve more attention from the French Companies in the Peninsula. More information will be send to you soon.
