Club Med Opens Reservations for Its New Beach Resort in Borneo

CCIFM patron member Club Med has officially announced the opening of reservations for its newest destination, Club Med Borneo, marking a new milestone in its development in Southeast Asia.
Located in Kuala Penyu, just 90 minutes from Kota Kinabalu, the resort is set to welcome its first guests in November 2026. This new property will be Club Med’s second resort in Malaysia and its first large-scale, BREEAM-certified beach resort in the Asia-Pacific region.
Nestled between tropical rainforest and the South China Sea, Club Med Borneo offers a unique setting that combines natural beauty with premium all-inclusive hospitality. Inspired by traditional Bornean architecture, the resort has been designed to integrate harmoniously into its surroundings while showcasing the region’s cultural heritage.
Spanning 17 hectares, the resort will feature:
- 400 rooms, including Exclusive Collection Suites
- Multiple dining concepts offering international and local cuisine
- Infinity pools and family-friendly water facilities
- A spa set within a tropical forest environment
- Comprehensive Kids’ Clubs for ages 4 months to 17 years
- Meeting and event spaces for corporate and private functions
Guests will also have access to curated experiences highlighting Sabah’s rich biodiversity and culture, including excursions to the Mari-Mari Cultural Village.
Beyond its hospitality offering, the project reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and local development. Built in alignment with Club Med’s environmental initiatives, the resort incorporates:
- Eco-conscious infrastructure with low environmental impact
- Reduction of single-use plastics
- Energy-efficient and water-saving systems
- Biodiversity awareness programmes in collaboration with local partners
The resort is also expected to generate over 350 jobs, contributing to the economic growth of the Kuala Penyu region.
Reservations officially opened on 24 March 2026, with special launch offers available for early bookings.
