🎞️ The French Festival (LeFF24)
Now in its 22nd edition, it is an annual celebration of French and Francophone cultures, organized by the Embassy of France in Malaysia, the Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur and the Alliance Française de Penang, aiming to strengthen ties between Malaysian and French people. The festival takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, and Kuching, with the Penang segment scheduled from 13th - 23rd June.
Central to the festival is a film showcase at GSC Gurney Plaza, featuring the latest French films, including "Les Trois Mousquetaires" (The Three Musketeers), parts 1 and 2. This year's theme, inspired by the Paris Olympic Games, includes a focus on sports through cinema, an exhibition on women in sports, "The Long Journey of Female Athletes towards Equality", and a photography exhibit by Serge Périchon titled "Pour la beauté du geste" (The Beauty of the Sporting Gesture).
🎞️ LeFF24 in Penang
The Festival's main event will be the opening night on June 12th, a highlight in Penang's cultural calendar. It features theatre and photography workshops, an interactive VR exhibition, and special editions of Penang's unique French Heritage Trail, following the footsteps of the early French arrivals in Penang who established institutions such as Convent Light Street and St Xavier’s Institution.
