Malaysian's New Transportation and Logistic Strategy

As part our collaboration with EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EUMCCI), we will bring you the second VIP Luncheon for 2019 with  with Y.B Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport.

This luncheon will provide participants the opportunity to hear about the insights on what can be done to further develop Malaysia to become the preferred
logistics gateway to Asia. As Malaysia aspires to be a country where business excellence is unmatched, and in the case of industrial transformation, logistics is
the critical backbone.

Malaysia is set to observe the compound annual growth rate in terms of freight volume to grow at a rate two times faster towards 2020, as compared to the past
five years. This is followed by the increase in e-commerce, convenience stores and other nano-stores, which will result in more cargo flows to the city. Transportation to and within the city will therefore need to be better organised to avoid a so-called traffic infarct.

Malaysia envisions claiming an important role in the logistics for e-commerce through its e-commerce hub in KLIA. Finally, there are various competing new port
developments in Singapore and Indonesia that are challenging Malaysia’s position as transhipment hub.

This VIP luncheon will look closely at the vision of Malaysia’s strategy and how the new government will prioritize the transport and logistics sector and devise
key strategies and approaches to further improve conditions for logistics stakeholders.
