Driving Dialogue and Innovation: How B Lingo Communications Anchors Its Growth in Malaysia

What initiatives have you launched to support Malaysia’s business and public sectors?

Since its founding in 2001, B Lingo Communications has grown from a modest bilingual service into a regional powerhouse in language and interpretation. With more than 4 million words translated and over 400 events supported across Malaysia and the APAC region, the company has become a vital player in connecting institutions, businesses, and stakeholders.

Regular collaborations with government agencies like MIDA, MOFA, and the Prime Minister’s Office—as well as partnerships through B2B meetings, technical visits, and trade missions—highlight the company’s commitment to Malaysia’s development. “Our work is not only about language,” says the founder. “It’s about facilitating progress and building trust between local and international entities.”

The company’s evolution is also marked by key milestones: from operating outside public institutions to becoming a contractor to the State and many international statutory bodies, serving the Attorney General’s Chambers, Bank Negara, the Ministry of Finance, as well as IAEA, Aseanapol, FCDO and many others. Its growth from a 7-square-metre office in the CCIFM premises to a spacious 80-square-metre base in Bangsar South reflects both strategic planning and long-term engagement.

How is your company deepening its commitment and adapting to future needs?

B Lingo’s commitment goes beyond client service—it is evolving in sync with industry demands. The company is currently transitioning from a traditional Language Service Provider to a tech-driven operation. “We’re working on our own AI model for in-house use and investing heavily in human capital,” the team explains.

Employees are required to attend at least one professional workshop or event annually, ensuring continuous reskilling and staying abreast of the latest developments in language and technology. This forward-thinking approach is designed not just to maintain relevance, but to reinforce B Lingo’s status as the most reliable language partner in the Malaysian market.

In addition to strengthening client relationships, B Lingo has been contributing to the local knowledge ecosystem. Lectures delivered at Nottingham University and Universiti Utara Malaysia reflect its effort to share expertise and engage future talent.

“Our value lies in our consistency, innovation, and integrity. We don’t just serve clients—we become part of their operations and success stories,” the founder adds.

What sustainability practices and ethical commitments guide your operations?

For B Lingo, sustainability is not just about the environment—it’s also about ethical business practices and community contribution. The company avoids working with industries where fraud is prevalent, such as FOREX and MLM schemes, and applies rigorous due diligence to all potential clients, especially politically exposed persons (PEPs). It also works with IOs and NGOs involved in humanitarian work like IOM, Traffic.org and the like.

On the environmental front, the company has adopted practical green initiatives: using a hybrid company car since 2017, minimizing printed materials, and relying on rechargeable batteries for its interpreting equipment. These efforts are modest but meaningful in their consistency and intent.

The support of CCIFM has also played a pivotal role in B Lingo’s sustainable growth. From 2008 to 2022, the company was a long-term tenant within MFCCI premises, enjoying access to legal translation services, seminars, workshops, and B2B matchmaking opportunities. “CCIFM has been a partner in every step of our journey. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them,” the company affirms.
