Corporate Governance Malaysia | The Hornbill Award Competition 2021

The Hornbill Award Competition 2021 by Climate Governance Malaysia (CGM) is open for submissions!

The winner of The Hornbill Award will walk away with prize money of RM90,000 which judges will award to one NGO or CSO to fund an innovative proposal in response to the theme identified for the competition. The selection will culminate during Climate Week New York, which is the largest climate event of the year, and this decision will take into account audience voting as well. 

In addition, The Hornbill Award will provide an opportunity for businesses to support:

  • Sustainability and climate resilience; 

  • Malaysia’s commitment, under the Paris Agreement, to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 45% by 2030 in relation to our 2005 emissions intensity of GDP, and in addition, to maintain at least 50% level of forest & tree conservation; and 

  • Commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals, namely SDG13 (Climate Action), SDG14 (Life Below Water), SDG15 (Life On Land) and SDG17 (Partnership for the Goals). 

In turn, during an extremely difficult and challenging pandemic, CGM will provide the shortlisted entities access to a global platform to showcase their work, giving them an opportunity to promote their good work and attract funders for projects in climate action and biodiversity conservation.

This initiative will allow different stakeholders to form a collective towards concerted action on climate change and biodiversity conservation.
