EssilorLuxottica to buy A-Look, Seen and OWL optical stores in Malaysia
French-Italian eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica said on Thursday it has signed an agreement to buy A-Look, Seen and OWL optical retail stores in Malaysia for an undisclosed transaction sum.
If successful, the deal will give EssilorLuxottica more than 90 stores of the three brands in Malaysia. The transaction is expected to close by the end of June 2025 pending usual closing conditions, EssilorLuxottica said in a statement.
“Leveraging the integration of A-Look, Seen and OWL stores within EssilorLuxottica’s network will improve our understanding of the Malaysian market,” said the company known for sunglasses brands such as Ray-Ban and Oakley.
A-Look was founded in 2003 by Datuk Terry Ngeow with stores in both Peninsular and East Malaysia. Seen mainly sells luxury eyewear while OWL targets young adults with trendy prescription glasses.
The acquisition of the “omnichannel and multi-branded stores” will complement EssilorLuxottica position in Malaysia where it has both wholesale and retail activities, the company said.
“With an ambition to expand access to consumers in the dynamic Asia Pacific region, this move complements the group’s existing and deeply rooted network in the region,” EssilorLuxottica added.
