LATEST UPDATE : Travellers from India barred from entering Malaysia temporarily

The Government through the National Security Council has announced that all travellers arriving from India are barred effective 28 April 2021, except for Malaysian citizens to prevent the spread of the new Indian variant of Covid-19 in Malaysia.

People not allowed to enter Malaysia:
i.      Indian international students and business travellers.
ii.     Travellers on a direct flight/ transiting from any destination in India
iii.    Travellers from any destination in India transiting in Malaysia before travelling to a third country.
iv.    Indian foreign workers who hold valid temporary work passes / Pas Lawatan Kerja Sementara (PLKS).
v.     Ships that has a travel history to India in the past 14 days will not be allowed for sign-off procedure in Malaysia.

People allowed to enter Malaysia:
Malaysian in transit from any destination in India to a third country.
Those who fall under the below categories would have to undergo mandatory 14 days quarantine at the designated centres upon arrival in Malaysia.

i.      Malaysian travellers and crew members.
ii.     Malaysian students, workers, spouses and children who reside in India, as well as religious groups who                                    were in India.
iii.    Non-citizens who are spouses of Malaysian citizens.



Remark: The above ban does not give clear indications regarding Employment Pass (EP), Dependant Pass (DP), Professional Visit Pass (PVP) and Residence Pass (RPT) categories.
However, it would be prudent to note that this may apply to these categories as well if they are travelling from India or transitioning via India.
