Ministry Of Higher Education Penjana KPT – Career Advancement Programme

What is PENJANA

PENJANA is a short term National Economic Recovery Plan introduced by the Malaysian Government to help kickstart the economy that has been deeply impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Measures under the plan to save jobs and promote employment include hiring incentives, wage subsidy, reskilling and training to ensure workers maintain or upgrade their skills.

PENJANA KPT- Career Advancement Program (KPT-CAP)

Under the PENJANA plan, the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) introduce a training program that aims to upskill and reskill unemployed graduates that have been affected by the sluggish job market due to the pandemic. With a training fund of RM100 million, the ministry aims to train and place 16,000 graduates in various industries.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Under the Train and Place scheme, industries are asked to identify employment opportunities in their respective fields and the required skill sets needed from our graduates in filling up those opportunities. These opportunities should be presented through Letters of Commitment (LOC) by the companies/industries detailing the job description/designation, duration of the employment and salary offered for opportunities offered.

MOHE with the collaboration of public universities will shortlist appropriate graduates that match the industries’ needs and any gap between the current skills set that these graduates have will be addressed through short term upskilling training.

The training will be funded by MOHE under the PENJANA initiative up to RM5,280 per graduates. The training modules are designed to close the skill gap between graduates and the expectation of the industry and will be assessed by the MOHE’s committee before it can be implemented. The implementation of the training modules will be carried out by an appointed training provider (on the recommendation of the industry/company) and will be supervised by a public university appointed by MOHE. Upon completion of the training, the graduate will be placed in the industry/company as stated by the LOCs beforehand.
