MKN updates on New SOPs for Businesses

MKN has made an announcement on 22nd May 2021 regarding the new SOPs that will take effect on 25th May 2021.

  1. There will be an increase in enforcement and roadblocks. People are advised to stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary for them to go out.

  2. The strategies implemented to reduce movement are:
    - Reducing the workforce at the office in both public and private sectors,
    - Reducing the operational hours of the economic sector.

  3. This means that 80% of the civil service force (750,000 people) will Work From Home (WFH).

  4. The private sector workforce will have to be reduced to 40% WFH, approximately 6.1 million employees.

  5. The frequency of public transportation will be reduced to 50% capacity.

  6. Business operations, including food-related businesses, will be limited to 8 am to 8 pm working hours. The same hours will be in place for grocery stores, convenience stores, pet stores, petrol stations, and laundry services.

  7. Night markets can operate from 4 pm to 8 pm.

  8. Shopping malls can be open until 8 pm and pharmacies from 8 am to 10 pm.

  9. HIDE will continue to be utilised and those deemed high risk will be immediately closed.

  10. Companies are required to check employees MySejahtera status before they come in to see if they are high risk.

These restrictions are in addition to the SOPs announced on 15 May 2021.
