Morning Talk: Amendments to The Employment Act 1955- Key Changes
CCIFM collaborated with the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) to give the opportunity to its members s to learn about the new amendments and changes to the employment law that will come into force, effective January 2023. Major changes include longer maternity and paternity leave, enhanced protection from discrimination, a statutory right for employees to request a flexible working arrangement and much more.
The guest speaker, Mr Bernard Kanny, is a Senior Consultant in Industrial Relations at the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF). He was Chairman of the Industrial Court of Malaysia and as Chairman he has adjudicated, written, and articulated complex awards on numerous cases involving dismissal and other matters relating to industrial disputes. Bernard has advised both the Employer and Employee in industrial relations matters and as former Chairman of the Industrial Court of Malaysia, he can render advice from the perspective of both the employer/employee. He gave an in-depth explanation of the changes and how they will affect the organisation.
