The Esmod Kuala Lumpur Graduation Fashion Show 2022 – “Eclectitsch” A Roaring Success!

The ESMOD Kuala Lumpur Fashion Show returned with a new batch of graduates who took the stage in a stellar fashion show to showcase their masterpieces. The event, which took place on 26th March (Saturday) at Level 3, Shoppes, Four Seasons Place, Kuala Lumpur, saw to numerous amazing outfits designed and created by the young fashion designers themselves.

Graduating batch FD1903 comprised of 19 talented designers who exhibited incredible designs surrounding the theme “Eclectitsch”. Made up of the words ‘eclectic’ and ‘kitsch’ put together, the term represents an array of diverse themes which come together to form a very eclectic, slightly kitsch setting.

The fashion designers presented their collections which were split into four categories of looks: Nouvelle Couture, Womenswear RTW (Luxury), Womenswear RTW and Menswear RTW. “Empowering the Queens” by Fong Hui Yi symbolized the idea that every woman is a queen, beautiful and elegant, yet strong and powerful. Eugene Chow’s “The Back of Beyond” told the life of an introvert who enjoys solitude.

“Testimony of the Ancient” by Eunice Ong Xiao Qing was inspired by gothic architecture and 16th century sculptures. Ryan Lee Chi Yeng’s “An Antonian Affair” depictes ancient Roman life with a touch of disease. “Tainted” by Sunny Hoe Zhi San showed that a fall from great innocence hurts the most, knowing that you are now tainted.

“Women Are More Than That” by Wong Nee Co redefined the original role of women. Jacy Chia Kia Cheng’s “Soul Speak” showcased stories that glimmer and speak through our souls. Samantha Low Jia En’s “Embracing Growth” surrounded finding joy in the chaos of growing up. These are just some of the many collections that were showcased.

The designers’ collection were appraised by a panel of judges made up of several notable names in the industry such as fashion designers Bon Zainal, Bernard Chandran, as well as other professionals from the industry. Each of the graduating fashion designer was competing for the award of ‘Best Fashion Design’ and ‘Best Pattern Making’.

Attendees left the venue in awe of the striking, inspired pieces produced by the budding fashion designers.
