The CCIFM is now here to provide you support and assistance for your MM2H application, as part of its range of business support services. Promoted by the Malaysian government, the MM2H programme allows eligible foreign citizens to reside in Malaysia on a long-term basis and, subject to the applicable conditions, to bring their spouse, children, parents and/or parents-in-law as dependants. Children aged 21 to 34 may qualify subject to being single and unemployed while in Malaysia, while medically certified children with disabilities may qualify without an age limit. Platinum participants may also bring a foreign maid.

Why not yours?

The MM2H programme not only allows participants to enter and leave Malaysia through a Multiple Entry Visa (MEV), but also offers other benefits:

  • participants may withdraw up to 50% of their principal fixed deposit after MM2H approval for permitted purposes including the purchase of a residence, education, medical and tourism activities in Malaysia
  • participants are required to purchase and own a residence after approval, with the minimum value depending on the MM2H category; the residence generally cannot be sold for 10 years, except where it is upgraded by purchasing a higher-value residence
  • dependent children may pursue their education up to tertiary level at government-recognised higher-learning institutions in Malaysia
  • long-term medical treatment is permitted in Malaysia during the validity of the MM2H Pass
  • participants below 50 are required to spend 90 cumulative days per year in Malaysia; for the standard Silver, Gold and Platinum categories this applies to participants aged 25 to 49, while the SEZ/SFZ category applies the requirement to participants aged 21 to 49. The required stay may be fulfilled by the principal and/or spouse and dependants
  • participants aged 50 and above have no minimum annual stay requirement
  • Platinum participants may conduct business/investment activities and pursue career opportunities, subject to the applicable Malaysian laws and regulatory requirements.

Participants in the Silver, Gold and SEZ/SFZ categories are not permitted to conduct business/investment activities or pursue career opportunities under the MM2H programme itself. Where a participant wishes to undertake an activity requiring separate immigration, employment, professional or regulatory authorisation, the relevant Malaysian approval or pass must be obtained.

Applications for the federal MM2H programme must be submitted through an MM2H tour operating business licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and processed through the One Stop Centre Malaysia My Second Home (OSC MM2H). Immigration matters, including final approval, fall under the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Immigration Department of Malaysia. A one-off participating fee and processing fee also apply, in addition to the fixed-deposit and property requirements.
