PM Announces Ease of Restrictions for Fully-Vaccinated

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced on 8th August 2021, that there will be an ease in restrictions for those who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 effective 10th August 2021, nationwide. Individuals who are considered to be fully vaccinated are:

  • those who have taken 2 doses of Pfizer, AstraZeneca or Sinovac after 14 days from the second dose.
  • those who have taken one dose of Johnson & Johnson or Cansino are considered to be fully vaccinated after 28 days of their dose.

Ease of restrictions includes :

For all states (regardless of phase under the National Recovery Plan):

  • Overseas travellers returning to Malaysia may quarantine at home. Malaysians or non-Malaysians from abroad returning to Malaysia (e.g.permanent residents, Malaysia My Second Home - MM2H holders) may quarantine at home and be given digital Home Surveillance Order (HSO)
  • Long-distance spouses may travel interstate/interdistrict to see each other
  • Parents may travel interstate/interdistrict to see their children aged under 18
  • Allowed to pray at places of worship subject to precautions


For states under Phase 2 and beyond under the National Recovery Plan:

  • Dine-in in restaurants is allowed, subject to dine-in SOPs
  • Sports, leisure, recreation, subject to SOPs
  • Tourism within the same state is allowed.

The following states are under :
Phase 1 : Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur& Putrajaya.
Phase 2: Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Pulau Pinang, and Sabah
Phase 3:  Sarawak, Perlis and Labuan.
