Air Liquide signs MoU with InvestKL to support new Air Liquide Operations in Malaysia

On 28 March 2017, Air Liquide and InvestKL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which sets out a general framework for potential future collaboration in several areas, including the creation of a talent pipeline and potential technical & technological collaborations with other startup companies in Malaysia. 

The third largest economy in the ASEAN region (USD300 billion), with a population of 30.5 million and an increasingly attractive business environment, Malaysia's goal is to double its per capita income by 2020.                        

Already recognised as a regional hub, Malaysia aspires to become a center for R&D, logistics, distribution, marketing and support services. To date, more than 270 French businesses, including Air Liquide,have a  chosen Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia as their investment destination. Going forward, Air Liquide will leverage on Malaysia as a platform to launch its digital initiatives across SEAPAC. 

As a result of this venture, the MoU with InvestKL will trigger the integration of Air Liquide into the local academic ecosystem to create a talent pipeline supporting the expected expansion of Air Liquide Business Services. The MoU will also create opportunities for positive synergies with other French and Malaysian startups or Small-Medium Enterprises.

Reacting to the MoU signing, Ng Boon Hai, Vice President of Air Liquide Southeast Asia and Pacific, says:

strengthening these links and cementing a valuable long-term relationship.” 

Datuk Zainal Amanshah, Chief Executive Officer, InvestKL, added: “The setting up of Air Liquide latest operation in Greater Kuala Lumpur, to provide high-value technology-led activities for the region, demonstrates its confidence in the city’s proposition and track record of hosting regional operations.This exciting initiative will enhance Air Liquide's competitiveness in the region. It will have a positive multiplies impact on the domestic economy through the creation of highly skilled jobs and potential collaboration with local Universities”.
