Sustainability has been one of the fundamental objectives of the European Union (EU) for nearly 20 years. It has been mainstreamed into EU policies and legislation and the EU’s 2030 Agenda has become the world’s blueprint for global sustainable development. The EU has a set vision for the sustainable development of Europe based on balanced economic growth and price stability, a highly competitive social market economy, aiming at full employment and social progress, and a high level of protection and improvement of the quality of the environment.
Malaysia has recently been focusing on sustainability and while maturing in its understanding of the matter, it’s still developing specific strategies and policies. Being in the enviable position of benefitting from others’ experience, and combined with strong guidance and support from the Malaysian Government, local businesses have been able to make great strides in sustainability within a short time frame.
With the elite trailblazers from both the EU and Malaysia being highlighted, we are pleased that both the EU Ambassador, H.E. Maria Castillo Fernandez and KETTHA Secretary General, YBhg. Dato Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini bin Ujang will participate in this event.
The "In Conversation With" Sustainability Leaders event, will also featuring the past winners of Europa Awards for Sustainability 2017 together with sustainability experts to further discuss best practices in business sustainability. They will share how to avoid costly mistakes, what works, and what it takes to be a leader in the field of sustainability!This event will take place together with the Soft Launch of Europa Awards for Sustainability 2018 edition.
