Special announcement by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday, 23 April 2020.

Following the Special announcement by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday, 23 April 2020. 

The Prime Minister announced that  based on the advice of the Ministry of Health Malaysia and medical experts, the government has decided to extend the implementation of the Movement Control Order until 12 May 2020. The extension of this period is intended to provide healthcare workers with the opportunity to combat the spread of COVID-19, as well as to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

The Prime Minister wished Ramadan al Karim to all Muslims and urged Malaysian to stay strong and resillent in this fight again Covid-19 .

Some of the key points of the Prime Ministers message includes : 

• Students who are still on campus, will soon be allowed to return home. The process to ensure the safe journey home of these students is being planned by the government with the advice of the Ministry of Health.
   
• Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning Unit, of Prime Minister's Department is working on a comprehensive short, medium- and long-term Economic Recovery Plan. 
   
• Among the initiatives being planned are investing in building people's skills, promoting domestic spending, improving industry resilience including SMEs, as well as nurturing a positive investment environment for the future.
   
• Although the MCO may be extended further, companies in certain sectors will be allowed to operate, subject to compliance with the terms of worker safety, social distancing and hygiene at work place.
   
• The government will consider opening up other sectors and sub-sectors. This will be subjected to stringent requirements to ensures that the companies continues to be competitive and that the employees continue work in a safe environment.
